This is Ollie

The inspiration behind Chatty Cats Care

Meet Ollie he is a super chatty and friendly Bengal cat with the sweetest personality.

Ollie is one of our favourite cat bosses and the inspiration behind our name Chatty Cats Care.

He just turned 3 years old and he lives with his kind human mummy Tina, who loves her boy unconditionally.

When I first met Ollie at his home he was quite a shy cat and took his time to approach me, but he was very inquisitive. Our lovely boy didn’t have the best start in life sadly, as a kitten Ollie lived in Cambridge and his current owner believes that he wasn’t treated very well due to his nervous disposition. Tina explained “In the beginning, Ollie would hide under my bed and not come out until I was out of sight”. However, Tina didn’t give up on her boy and left food in his safe space, which he was able to access easily without being disturbed. Slowly but surely Ollie started to gain trust in his new owner and eventually came out to play. You wouldn’t believe this now as they are inseparable.

As a professional cat sitter, I knew that it was important for me to take time with Ollie and let him approach me on his own terms. Now Ollie and I get on very well, I love that he comes to the door to meet me when I visit, rolling around and greeting me with meows. It was Ollie’s meows that inspired the name of Chatty Cats Care. As Ollie started to feel more comfortable and confident around me, he found his voice and hasn’t stopped chatting (meowing) to me since.

When I visit Ollie first I check and top up his food bowls, Ollie knows what he likes to eat and will definitely make it clear when he doesn’t like a type of food. He also loves to eat raw chicken wings, which he takes from a saucer in the kitchen and brings to a place where he likes play with it and then eat it. He also likes it when I put a king prawn on top of foot stall, which he jumps up to and swipes down to play with it and then eat it. It is clear that Ollie has a big cat persona and is a natural hunter. I think if he were an outdoor cat he would definitely bring in a few creepy critters.

Although Ollie is an indoor cat, Tina takes him out to their communal gardens for a walk and play on a leash. Tina tells me that Ollie is intrigued by everything outside and has some dog friends that he likes to say hello to.

Ollie’s favourite things to play with are his chopsticks, which he chases and kicks around the apartment. He loves to play football, with an actual human sized football, believe it or not. He loves the feather on a stick toy and can jump so high to reach it. Ollie also loves his little battery powered insects, which he chases around the house. He is a very clever cat, he can sit when asked (just like a dog), he gives you his paw and I am working on trying to teach him how to fetch. Ollie also has a way of communicating exactly what he wants such as showing me where his cat treat cupboard is.

Ollie is such a pleasure to look after and I am so glad that he is now in such a loving environment. Tina says that Ollie is the best thing that has ever happened to her and I believe that Ollie feels that same.

Ollie just loves playing with his chopsticks and he does it so well
