What we do:

A Chatty Cat Care team member will visit your home once or twice per day as requested, while you are away. I would recommend this to any cat owner over a cattery option as it is far less stressful for the cat. Cats are also territorial animals and feel most comfortable in an environment they are used to. The visits include cleaning the feeding bowls and area and then feeding the cat, checking and topping up water facilities, administering medication if needed (a tablet or injection) and grooming. Lastly, cleaning and refreshing the litter tray and giving your cat (s) lots of attention, TLC, playing, pampering and cuddles.

However this is just a standard procedure, what we do at Chatty Cat Care ® is tailor this standardised procedure to fit with your needs.

• We want to get to know your cats well and love them as you do, so it's great when you tell us what they like and dislike and then we get to see their personalities come through.

• Let us know if they have any dietary requirements, and if they are allowed a cheeky treat from time to time.

• We appreciate that some cats might be shy/nervous or not wanting to play a lot, so we are happy to just keep them company. Our team is made up of creative people who like to sew and knit. We also have freelancers and students who have books to read or programmes to type up, so while we are doing our work the shy kitties will usually feel more relaxed and able to approach us in their own time.

• Be sure to let us know if your pet is allowed outside or just to remain inside. Some people have outdoor cats but like them to just remain inside, while they are away from home. If your cat does go outside, we can make sure that a team member who has many hours to spare can hang around for a while.

• In the unlikely case of an emergency we will hopefully speak with you first, but we are able to transport your pet to a vet. We also have Medivet team members that work on the team, who can advise what to do.

• We know how much you will miss your pet when away, so we send daily updates, which include photos, videos and messages.

• We can also bring in your post (I have been conveniently at a clients home when Amazon parcels have arrived). We can also water indoor and outdoor plants if needed. Switch on or off lights; draw curtains and blinds to assure security at your home, while you are away.

• We can keep hold of your keys between visits away (if required) as a spare key holder, which is convenient sometimes if you get locked out. But we can also arrange with you to either post them after the last visit or arrange to meet with you to return them back once you are home.

• Please be clear with instructions with the keys, remember if you have asked for them to be posted and there is a delay with your transport home, we will not be able to return.

• Even if your cat has a timed feeder we will always still visit your cat once or twice per day, as cats get lonely and we feel that it is important for them to have some human contact, which they would be used to.

• It is under your discretion where you would want us to leave the keys. I have been instructed to leave keys under a doormat on the last visit. There have never been any problems with keys, however, if something were to happen with the keys after being instructed to leave them under a doormat for example, then this is no longer our responsibility.

• We are happy to buy extra food on your cat on one-off occasions, however, it is your responsibility to assure that you are fully stocked up on cat food and cat litter essentials before the day of the booking.

Registration and Key Collection

We will arrange an initial free meeting and consultation with you at your home. This is so we can become familiar with your cat and home. This is also an opportunity for you to tell us all about your cat (s) so that we can tailor a specific service that works well for you and your cat. We also use this opportunity for you to show us where everything is kept, e.g. cat food, litter trays and test and collect spare keys.

If a separate key collection or drop off is required a £7 charge will be added to cover our time and transport. We also retain keys for many of our clients for future visits, saving you the cost of another key collection. We ensure that no keys contain the addresses of the owners or any correspondence.

Your Security

Your home security is important to us while you are away. At Chatty Cats Care, we ensure that your home appears the same as usual. We are happy to bring in the mail, water plants, switching lights on or off, opening and closing curtains or blinds. This will give the impression that your house is still occupied when away and should deter any potential burglars.

Cleaning and Hygiene

Cleanliness and Hygiene are paramount at Chatty Cats Care. Our visits include refreshing or changing litter trays, keeping food bowls and eating area clean, removing all related rubbish/garbage from the house.

Extras

We are happy to go above and beyond with our service and replenish any additional items you may need if you run out, such as cat food, cat litter, bin liners etc. However, a £10 cost will be added on to the bill in addition to the cost of purchases, this is to cover our time and service.

Updates

We know how much you miss your cats and appreciate the reassurance. We send daily updates, photos and videos if you wish to give you peace of mind.
